Prior to 49 North/Fuel Industries, Philip was an agent with the
William Morris Agency, a key member of the agency's independent film
division, William Morris Independent. He was involved in the
packaging, financing and selling of more than seventy-five films. Some
of the many films he was involved with included, "Thank You For
Smoking" (directed by Jason Reitman, “Juno”), Oscar Nominee, "Away
From Her," " Factory Girl," " Bobby," and numerous others.
In his capacity as an agent, Philip also handled all of the day to day
business affairs of the division and worked closely with the agency's
corporate division and many of the agency's writers, directors and
actors.
From 1991 to 2004, Philip was a lawyer based in London, England and
held various legal positions. He was a partner with City firm Osborne
Clarke and prior to this, was Head Of Media at Baker McKenzie's London
office. During this time, he established himself as a leading expert
in the areas of film finance and media law.
While working as a lawyer, Philip was very active as a writer of
numerous books and legal articles. His books include, "The Insiders
Guide To Film Finance" (pub. 2004 Elsevier), " Law And The Media"
,(pub. Focal Press 2005) and "The Independent Producers Guide To Film
And TV Contracts",( pub. Focal Press 1999).
Philip speaks frequently on film and film finance related panels and
seminars. He is on the board of Entertainment Law Review and the
British Independent Film Awards(BIFAS). He was a recipient of the UK's
Lawyer/Hifal Award as Solicitor of the Year and is listed in both the
Legal 500 and Chambers as an expert in film finance and media law. In
addition to his legal writing he has produced several television and
theatrical feature films.
He won an Emmy in 2004 for the film, "The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie,"
for Showtime. He was previously nominated in 1993 for an Emmy for the
film, "The Song Spinner," (Showtime).
Philip holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) and a Bachelor of Arts
(History) from Dalhousie University in Canada and a Law degree(LLB)
from University College London and The London School of Economics.
He is married, has two children and resides in Los Angeles. |

Joakim "Jay" Baage has been working in media ever since he completed a year of military service as a writer for the Swedish Armed Forces newspaper Värnpliktsnytt.
He has since dropped camouflage in favor of business attire, moved to the United States and now has over a decade of experience from a wide range of international media companies.
In the last few years, Jay has focused on the transition from an analog to a digital world and how to build successful media and entertainment properties accordingly.
Jay currently oversees content, operations and ad sales for all Digital Media Wire. He furthermore manages marketing initiatives and strategic partnerships across the board for the company.
Together with Ned Sherman, CEO and Publisher of DMW, Jay heads up a series of of youth-focused entertainment and marketing conferences called The Millennials. In addition, he is Event Director for the NY and LA Games Conferences.
Jay is also a frequent speaker at international media industry events such as the LA Film Festival and Canadian Music Week.
He has a Masters Degree in Media, Entertainment & Technology Management from New York University and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Goteborg University in Sweden.
Jay is a recipient of the Wallenberg Scholarship 2004 and 2006, The Sweden-America Foundation Fellowship 2005 as well as awarded scholarships for being “A Promising New Media Manager” by Swedish Newspaper Publishers’ Association 2005 and 2001.

Scott Brown, senior manager of marketing strategy for the Cisco Media Solutions Group (CMSG), is responsible for the communications, marketing and executive communication activities for the group.
Prior to CMSG, Scott was the executive communications manager for Dan Scheinman, who formerly led Corporate Development at Cisco. Scott joined Dan in the formation of CMSG in December of 2006, and soon expanded his responsibilities to his current role.
Prior to joining Cisco, Scott was the executive communications director for Scott McNealy, Chairman & CEO, Sun Microsystems. He also held a variety of brand strategy and market research roles at Cunningham Communications, supporting high-tech clients such as Cisco, Adobe, Autodesk, Sun Microsystems and PeopleSoft.

Richard Bullwinkle,

Richard Bullwinkle joined Rovi Corporation in January 2007 after the
company acquired Mediabolic, where he had served as vice president of
products and chief evangelist. Since that time, Richard has served as
chief evangelist responsible for corporate strategy. In his role,
Richard helps define the direction of Rovi’s products and technology
solutions. He represents the company at numerous industry events to
gather market perspectives and understand trends that have an impact
on the company’s customers and the end consumer in order to provide
recommendations to the senior team. He also works to establish

experience throughout the CE industry.
Richard has worked on the cutting edge of the digital entertainment

entertainment media devices. As a senior member of Rio Audio's
product marketing team, Richard played an instrumental part in the
creation of some of the most popular MP3 players in the US. At TiVo,
Richard was the company’s chief evangelist and a senior member of
TiVo's product marketing team. He helped create and develop the TiVo
products and was behind the campaign to make the TiVo product a
household name.

Prior to joining NVP in 2006, Tim was a principal at Gabriel Venture Partners where he was actively involved in over a dozen wireless-related deals and led Gabriel's investments in Iridigm Display Corporation (acquired by Qualcomm), Sequoia Communications, Sandbridge, and Kajeet. He also contributed to the boards of Placeware (acquired by Microsoft) and Arula Systems (acquired by Raritan), TestQuest, NextG Networks, and IPWireless. Tim built Gabriel's wireless sector practice and helped establish business development capabilities through strong, strategic relationships across the wireless value chain, particularly in Asia-Pacific.
Prior to joining Gabriel, Tim spent more than five years working in Japan. He was a product manager at Gateway Inc. where he successfully launched direct-marketed PC servers in the Japanese market and quickly grew an enterprise product line into a full offering of network desktops, workstations, servers and configurable turn-key solutions. Prior to Gateway, Tim was a development engineer for General Motors. As a tri-lingual engineer based in Tokyo, Tim led project teams in China, Korea and Japan in the development, testing and sales of advanced chassis control systems for clients such as Toyota and Daewoo.
Tim currently serves on the advisory boards of the Silicon Valley Telecom Council, Dealmaker Media, Digital Hollywood, TiE Wireless SIG, MIT/Stanford VLAB, VC Task Force, and Silicon Valley Chinese Wireless Association. Known throughout the technology and music industries as being “part ambassador and part evangelist,” Cohen was instrumental in crafting the licensing agreements upon which the Rhapsody subscription service and the iTunes Music Store were built.
In his previous role as Senior Vice President of Digital Development & Distribution for EMI Music (home of artists including Coldplay and the Rolling Stones), Cohen led next-generation digital business development worldwide for this “big four” record company, which includes labels such as Capitol, Virgin, Angel/Blue Note, Parlophone and Chrysalis. During that time, EMI led the industry by embracing and exploiting new technologies and business models such as digital downloads and online music subscriptions, custom compilations, wireless services, high-definition audio and Internet radio.
In addition to seeking out, evaluating and executing business opportunities for the company on a global basis, Cohen served as both a strategist and key decision-maker for EMI’s global new media and anti-piracy efforts. He worked to establish company-wide digital policies, which have provided EMI’s artists and labels a substantial advantage in the digital music arena.
Prior to his role at EMI, Cohen served as Executive Vice President of Digital Music Network Inc., where he co-founded and served as Chairman of the groundbreaking Webnoize conferences.
Cohen also led two highly successful new media consulting operations, DMN Consulting and Consulting Adults, attracting clients such as Amazon.com, Microsoft, Universal Studios, DreamWorks Records, Liquid Audio, Wherehouse Records/Checkout.com and various other entertainment, technology and new media organizations. Cohen also held senior management positions at both Warner Bros. Records and Philips Media.
A 30-year industry veteran, Cohen was recently elected Chairman of the Mobile Entertainment Forum Americas board, and currently chairs MidemNet, an international music/technology conference convened in Cannes each year. Cohen also serves on the NARAS (Grammy) Los Angeles chapter Board of Governors as well as the national Trustee Board, the Board of Directors for the Neil Bogart Memorial Fund, co-chairs the new media arm of the T.J. Tom Conrad leads the Pandora product organization, which includes product management, user interface design, software development, and network operations. Over the years, Tom has led numerous engineering and product design teams across a wide range of applications - from operating systems and enterprise software to video games and consumer web sites. Before joining Pandora, Tom was the Vice President of Engineering at Kenamea, Inc. where he led the teams responsible for the design and development of an award-winning Internet-scale messaging system. Tom previously was the Technical Director for the successful video game series "You Don't Know Jack."

Jim Eadie is Vice President of Digital Distribution for MTV Networks. In his role, Jim is responsible for developing MTV Networks’ mobile content distribution strategies, for structuring distribution relationships with mobile operators, aggregators and emerging platforms, and for managing these distribution partnerships. The company currently boasts more than 80 mobile distribution deals worldwide. Matthew Glotzer, Senior Vice President

Matthew Glotzer is the Senior Vice President of Fox Digital Entertainment, a division of Fox Filmed Entertainment that is engaged in film and television licensing, original production and strategy formation with respect to emerging media platforms.
A founding member of the original Fox Digital Media group in 2004 and now in his 11th year with Fox, Glotzer leads business planning efforts for Fox Digital Studios and Fox Mobile Entertainment, while also working closely with the Company’s flagship film and television production units. He also manages Fox’s day-to-day relationship with Hulu, and played an active role in the formation of the Hulu JV in 2007.
In prior Digital Media roles, Glotzer has worked with Fox’s broadcast and cable television networks, helping them to refine their approach to Internet-based distribution. His long-standing responsibilities also include setting digital policy in conjunction with Fox’s legal and engineering groups, and maintaining close relationships with key players in the consumer electronics, information technology and web service sectors. In this capacity, he has served on Boards of various cross-industry ventures including Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), the Coral Consortium and DECE.
In the past, Glotzer has held positions in Fox’s pay television distribution, corporate business development and home video divisions. His experience prior to Fox includes positions in strategic planning with EMI Music and investment banking with Lehman Brothers.

Jon Goldman takes more than a decades’ experience in developing interactive digital content in the videogame
industry to his role as chief executive officer of Qlipso. He joined the multiuser content-sharing platform
company in early 2009 and oversees roll-out of the Qlipso social-viewing platform, which enables people to
extend and enhance their real-life social lives online.
In March 2010, Goldman played an instrumental role in Qlipso’s successful purchase of significantly all of the
assets of the online video site Veoh. This acquisition propelled Qlipso from a small R&D company to one of
the world’s leading online video and social-content companies and enabled the integration of social features
within much of the world’s mainstream digital content.
Goldman most recently served as Chairman and CEO of Foundation 9 Entertainment, the largest independent
videogame company in the world. Along with some close friends in the mid-1990s, he started this
multinational company, which, at its peak, employed nearly one thousand talented game developers around the
world with a gameography of more than 500 titles and multiple million-plus sellers.
Prior to co-founding Foundation 9 Entertainment, Goldman was a co-founder of Backbone Entertainment and
ImaginEngine, two of the videogame companies that became the basis of Foundation 9 Entertainment.
Goldman began his career as an associate at investment banking advisory firm International Strategic
Alliances, specializing in developing strategic partnerships between U.S. and Asian technology companies.
Goldman has spoken at some of the technology and media industry’s most respected events, including Digital
Hollywood, the iHollywood Forum, Electronic Entertainment Expo Game Developer’s Conference and
D.I.C.E. He sits on the Board of Directors for New York-based philanthropy Common Cents, which is the
leading children’s service learning non-profit.

Peter Kaars is Director of Standards North America for Technicolor and has been a DLNA member since 2005. Kaars, based in the U.S./West Coast, represents Technicolor where he is responsible for the coordination and staffing of the home networking standards program.
With DLNA, Kaars has been leading the process of member companies to develop guidelines for content protection. Guidelines for link protection (DTCP-IP and WMDRM-ND) were published in October, 2006.
Kaars began his career at Philips in Computer Aided Design, working in multimedia with Philips Research in the Netherlands. In 1994, he joined Philips Digital Networks, where he played a key role in such pioneering developments as Video on Demand, Digital Satellite TV, Digital Cable TV and Internet streaming. During this time, he also served as a member of various DVB standardization committees including the Multimedia Home Platform for interactive television.
Kaars is a graduate of the University of Amsterdam, where he worked on numerical simulation of solid state physics.

Previously, he was the co-founder and vice president of engineering at Navisoft, which was acquired by AOL in 1994. The Navisoft technology became the foundation for AOLPress and AOLServer products, which enabled the creation of Web content in WYSIWYG tools.
David was also the first vice president of engineering at Macromedia, the American graphics and Web development software house that was acquired by Adobe Systems in 2005. In this post, Kaiser led the development for Director, a product that revolutionized digital animation.
David started his career and worked for thirteen years at NASA Ames Research Center doing early work in computer graphics, virtual environments and super computing.

While serving as President of FutureVision, Lafferty supervised the redesign and rollout of the industry’s first true switched digital network service offering and the company’s acquisition by Verizon. Before FutureVision, as VP of TV Answer, he led the development of numerous technically diverse simulcast interactive applications using IVDS over-the-air transmission spectrum, and secured affiliations with PBS and commercial broadcast station groups, culminating in a strategic alliance with CapCities/ ABC. Lafferty was also CEO of NBC’s Olympics joint venture, where he led multiple vendors to develop alternative security solutions for a satellite-delivered mini-subscription PPV signal, as well as oversaw cable and broadcast affiliate marketing. Prior to that, as GE Americom VP of Cable Services, he contributed to GE Astro’s new fleet development and deployment, generating $445 million in sales to television programmers in 18 months. As VP of TDBS, he led Turner Broadcasting’s internal and GI engineering teams to develop and deploy the industry’s first signal-scrambling security technology for basic programming services.
Lafferty has received recognition from, and held leadership positions in, numerous industry organizations throughout his career. Mike Vorhaus, President, Magid Advisors founded the Magid Internet and New Media research and consultation practice in 1995, with AOL and Excite as his first two clients. Mike’s team has completed over 2,500 engagements with over 100 Internet clients. Mike began the Magid Gaming Practice in 2001 with EA and Sony Online as his first two clients. The Magid Game Practice now works with most of the major game publishers. Mike provides research and consulting services to a number of major traditional media companies in regard to their new media initiatives, as well as consulting a number of leading Internet and gaming companies. He has also provided advice to venture capital and private equity firms in regard to investments in the media space. Mike has been involved in strategic and tactical consulting, including the launch of new services and programming, as well as development and implementation of online and offline marketing programs. Mike has also been extensively involved in video and PC gaming strategies for a number of our companies, as well as the development of game concepts. Mike has consulted on a number of film projects such as You’ve Got Mail and The Matrix. He holds a B.S. in psychology and sociology from Wesleyan University and has worked as a fundraiser and transfer of technology officer at the California Institute of Technology and the University of California. Mike also worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, The U.S. Senate, and for two Administrations in the White House.

Todd Weaver has been helping Hollywood with online video delivery from behind the scenes for more than a decade. Since 1998, his work has been concentrated on video delivery technologies by consulting on a wide range of projects involving the creation of solutions for making Internet video distribution more robust by increasing its efficiency.
Weaver has provided senior-level consulting related to online video distribution for major Hollywood studios with Entertainment Works and interactive distribution with Impart Media Group, where he served as CTO, in addition to online audio and video distribution with PlayNetwork, in his capacity as a software architect.
Later, he became dedicated to delivering a proof of concept for live video delivery by solving the problems of scale and security.
In 2007 he had his “a-ha” moment and incorporated ivi, inc (ivi TV’s parent company) realizing he had solved the live video delivery conundrum.
Subsequently, he has been squarely focused on improving upon his breakthrough and readying ivi TV™ for its recent infamous launch, which has thrust him into the spotlight with ivi TV’s highly disruptive technology that has taken the world by storm enabling consumers to watch live TV anytime, anywhere they have an Internet connection.
Along the way, Weaver has been recognized for his visionary strategy, technical leadership, and for evoking an entrepreneurial culture in his ambitious start-up.

White joined Gracenote in 2001 bringing 13 years of demonstrated experience leading teams in the creation, development, and sales of innovative technologies and products. White manages the company’s product and content management teams in the execution of the company’s strategic product vision.
Prior to his current role White led sales teams at Gracenote working with leading media software and services provider customers such as Apple, Yahoo, Real Networks, Napster and America Online.
Prior to joining Gracenote, White was the VP of development for streaming music start-up Echo.com which was one of the first companies to combine group content streaming and community features such as instant messaging and chat rooms into a streaming audio client.
Prior to that White acted as Sr. Director of Project Management and Executive Producer for new media consultancy CKS. In his role at CKS White managed teams in the creation of major web sites and applications including the award winning Apple Online Store, GM.com and Visa.com.

As Director of Strategic Partnerships at YouTube, Kevin Yen (@KevinYen) leads the monetization and general performance of YouTube's content and distribution deals, as well as the marketing of the YouTube platform to the media industry. Kevin’s online video expertise spans revenue generation, advertising models, social media, and deal structuring. At YouTube, Kevin created the Four R's marketing framework of Revenue-Reach-Research-Rights, used by partners to develop their syndication strategies. He founded and chairs the company’s Video Advisory Board, consisting of its most innovative content producers.
Prior to Google’s acquisition of YouTube in October, 2006, Kevin built and directed the partner management team for Google Video's ad-supported and paid download service. He also negotiated over $500 million in large-scale search and contextual advertising deals with Google's top partners, including AOL and InfoSpace.
Before joining Google, Kevin held Senior Product Manager positions at Netscape and AOL. His work included helping transform the Netscape Navigator browser into the foundation of today's open source Mozilla Firefox. In addition, Kevin negotiated distribution deals with Sun Microsystems and Macromedia, and innovated advanced ad targeting methods. He pioneered marketing optimization systems at a startup, and programmed quantitative forecasting models for Apple, Hewlett Packard, and others.
