Mark
Desautels was named Vice President, Wireless Internet Development, upon the
merger of the Wireless Data Forum into CTIA in January 2001. Before that, he
served as President & CEO of the Wireless Data Forum, beginning in January
2000, after serving for two years as its first Managing Director.
Previously, he was the Assistant to the Director, Office of
Intergovernmental Relations, Congressional Budget Office (CBO), where he was
the agency’s press spokesperson and chief liaison officer. Desautels helped
design, develop, implement, and manage the agency’s first Web site, and he
was the agency’s representative to the Legislative Branch Legislative
Information Systems Task Force. Prior to joining CBO, Desautels was the
Washington-based business and economics reporter for a chain of business
news weeklies owned by Scripps-Howard, covering the telecommunications
industry and other beats. He also covered Capitol Hill for Thomson
Newspapers. Desautels has a Master of International Public Policy degree
from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies
and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College. He is a Member of the
Advisory Board at the Center for e-Services, Robert H. Smith School of
Business, University of Maryland, and is an Editorial Board Advisor, Radio
Resources Media Group.
